good dog trainer?
Many people are impressed when they see a dog trainers' demo dog
(that is the dog that a dog trainer will bring to your home when
performing an evaluation in hopes of getting your business). They see
this wonderful dog perform commands at an impeccable rate with such
enthusiasm and attention towards the professional dog trainer.
Extremely impressive, isn't it? Yes, it is, and that would probably make
that trainer a consideration for a Board and Train Program (if he trained
the demo dog).
Dedicated Dog Training likes to use a different metric to evaluate dog
trainers. We measure a dog trainer primarily on their ability not only to
train dogs but, to transfer their knowledge to their members. Many
times the difference between having a well trained puppy or dog is not
the training method, or the dog, many times it is a trainers inability to
transfer their dog training skills to the dog's owner.
For example, a teacher may have all of the schooling in the world, she
may possess her masters and credits above that too. She may have
attended a well renowned school to obtain her credentials; but in the
end, it all comes down to how effective she is in transferring the
information needed to the 1st grader for him to move on to the second
grade.
